Teodoru Badiu is a very creative and talented artist in illustration and 3D and character designer. He is able to stage universes as childish as mature and strange.
Teodoru Badiu is an Illustrator, character designer, and 3D artist based in Vienne – Austria. To bring his visions to life, he works with different kinds of media like 3D, vector, traditional drawings, collage, mixed media, and photography.
Even if his cheerful, bizarre, and colorful characters in their fantastic environment seem to be a little menacing sometimes, they are friendly in the end.
What is your source of inspiration for your work?
My collection of Vintage Rubber Toys, that is still growing with each visit that I make to the Flea Markets in Vienna and the cities that I visit. A big source of inspiration for my work is the classic cartoons, from Disney, Max Fleischer or Ub Iwerks, Grim Natwick but anything else could be a trigger for an idea for a new character. It could be pop culture, music, a movie, books, games, magazines, politics, etc…
What kind of technology, technical or software do you use?
Why can your work be a source of inspiration for others?
I hope that my work can inspire other artists to keep alive the style and the look and feel of the old classic cartoons and in the same time to awake awareness and to question the politics and the politicians and all the other issues related to economics and culture in our days.
