Leo G. Franchi designer-animator, analog and digital…

by ImaginessArt

Leo G. Franchi is an award-winning designer and animator based in Argentina who combines analog and digital techniques, giving artisanal value to the final animation.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU FOR YOUR CREATIONS?

Everything that is Mixed Media, I mean, a kind of mixture, collage between analog and digital elements.

I like those jobs where you can feel the elements, where they give you a tangible sensation, that you can touch them. As a classic, I could name you Saul Bass, and I really like the work of Adam Gault from the New York studio Block & Tackle.

WHAT ARE YOUR WORK TOOLS? (SOFTWARE, HARDWARE)

Paper, scissors and scanner would be the tools I use in the analog part of my work process, to then go digital using Photoshop and After Effects.   While I tried other alternatives to not make the work process longer by cutting everything twice, the abstract shapes that I generate on paper are again cropped in Photoshop with a lot of zoom and thousands of nodes to avoid losing the irregularities of the paper.

They are those “imperfections” perfect for me.

WHAT DOES YOUR CREATIONS MEAN CAN INSPIRE OTHER ARTISTS OR THE PEOPLE WHO OBSERVE THEM?

I believe that when you create elements outside the computer, you begin to generate a voice of your own, and this I believe inspires everyone to find and find their own style.
