Frederick Barnes is an American artist specialized in photography, rather photography in motion or “Cinemagraph“.
Based on travel photos and his knowledge of art, Frederick animates images, gives them movement.
He knew how to create a surreal style full of colors, fantasy and a lot of finesse.

My travel photos and my inspiration …
I find my inspiration from travel, art and those who follow me and see their response…
I love creating surreal works. That people stop and question if what they are looking at is real or not.
Tons of times I had some of my animations appear on travel pages that were tricked into believing there were real. I have seen a couple of news articles leaving the reporter mind boggled.
All of that inspires me.
What kind of technology, technical or software do you use?
I primarily use PlotagraphPro. I’m also starting to use After Effects to add even more layers of effects.
I’ve actually created a video walkthrough course where you can practice on images right with me.
You can see that here:
Why can your work be a source of inspiration for others?
I hope to make people question everything they see, perception creates reality. There is always more than meets the eye.
Also to inspire people to keep imagining the world around them in a new light and never lose that wonder.
