Dennis Venizelos is a graphic and digital artist who is employed by Walt Disney Television Studios Production Company. He has gained notoriety through his efforts as a background/location artist and painter for various movies and television series.

 

 

 

 

A graduate of San Francisco State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art with a Film Minor, Dennis Venizelos began his career in the entertainment field, at Hanna-Barbera Studios.

 Dennis developed his skills in Animation by working several departments, starting his career as a Storyboard Artist on SCOOBY-DOO, WHERE ARE YOU?. He then worked as an Assistant Animator, and even shot Camera, but eventually found that his passion was as a Background Artist.

Dennis subsequently painted and Keyed the Backgrounds for countless animated television series for studios such as Marvel, Disney and Warner Bros.

 As Background Supervisor, Dennis worked on such feature films as IRON GIANT, OSMOSIS JONES, FERN GULLY, EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS, MY LITTLE PONY, TRANSFORMERS and GI JOE. 

 Dennis Venizelos is also one of the most highly regarded Art Directors in the field of television animation. He is a four-time Emmy Award Winner for his work on the MUPPET BABIES television series.

Other productions such as X-MEN,  FAMILY DOG  for Steven Spielberg’s “AMAZING STORIES” and SPIDERMAN  highlight Dennis’ career.

What is your source of inspiration for your work?

Inspiration comes with a well-organized project.

What kind of technology, technical or software do you use?

First I paint the backgrounds by hand and then I use Photoshop in a Wacom Cintiq.

Why can your work be a source of inspiration for others?

if you work on quality projects you can inspire others.

What is your current project?

I work as background painter in “Milo Murphy’s Law” for Disney.
